We're the Gulf of Mexico

Whooping Crane

Every wild migratory Whooping Crane in the world winters in estuary areas of the Gulf of Mexico. Whoopers that breed in Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada winter in the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Texas. Those that learned their migration route following the Ultralight winter in refuges along the Florida Gulf Coast. Our breeding success every year is directly related to the abundance of blue crabs, our essential diet in winter.
