This December has a blue moon--that means there are going to be two full moons during the calendar month! And back in 1987, Laura Erickson pronounced any month with a blue moon "National Blue Jay Awareness Month"! She'll be focusing on us all month on her radio program, and trying to take photos (but even during NBJAM, we Blue Jays don't like to be too cooperative about photos). She'll also be setting out special treats at her bird feeder, like peanuts, just for us! Now that's the kind of celebration I like! National Blue Jay Awareness Month happens just once in a blue moon, so let's party!

Most days I only have 2 or 3 Blue Jays at a time. They must know it is BlueJay awareness month, cause this morning I have 7 at one time. They are enjoying the peanuts.
